The Story: The Victoria Pearls Defend Their Crown

This is the fourth edition of the Victoria Series, Uganda's home women's tournament, named after Lake Victoria, which sits right next to the Entebbe ground.

For readers new to cricket: a T20 International (T20I) is an official international match in which each team bats for up to 20 overs (an over is six legal deliveries). Games usually last about three and a half hours, which is why two can be played on the same day.

Storylines to Watch

Uganda's winning run. The Victoria Pearls have had a strong 2026. They went unbeaten to win the Easter Women's T20 Cup in Entebbe in April, beating the USA by 11 runs in the final, and won the Capricorn Quadrangular Series in Windhoek in July, beating Namibia by 17 runs in the final.

Namibia's chance for revenge. Namibia lost that Capricorn final to Uganda on home soil in July. They meet the hosts twice in the group stage, including the very first game of the tournament.

USA back in Entebbe. The USA lost the Easter Cup final to Uganda at this ground in April, so they already know the conditions.

Rwanda's test. Rwanda played in the 2023 Victoria Series and return to face three strong sides. Every game is a chance to learn against higher-ranked opposition.

Building towards the World Cup. Uganda are using the series to prepare for the 2027 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier finals.
