The Story: A Pakistan Core With Bangladesh Flair

The Abu Dhabi T10 has a new look for 2026, with UAE Bulls the only franchise carried over from last season. United Tigers are one of five new teams, and they named Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman as their icon player.

For readers new to the format: in T10 cricket, each team bats for just 10 overs (an over is six legal deliveries), so a game lasts about 90 minutes. A left-handed opener who attacks from ball one, like Fakhar, is exactly what a T10 side wants.

The Tigers' squad has a clear identity. All three pre-draft signings are from Pakistan, and the draft added four players from Bangladesh: Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahedi Hasan, Shamim Hossain and Habibur Rahman Sohan.

The Talking Points

Fakhar at the Top

Fakhar Zaman is one of Pakistan's most aggressive white-ball openers. If he gets going in the first two overs, the Tigers can post a big total quickly.

Plenty of All-Rounders

Faheem Ashraf, Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai and West Indies' Odean Smith all hit the ball hard and bowl seam. Mahedi Hasan adds off-spin, and Shamim Hossain is a busy finisher. That depth lets the Tigers bat long and still have plenty of bowling options.

Pace and Wrist-Spin

Abbas Afridi is known for his clever slower balls, and Netherlands seamer Paul van Meekeren brings experience from World Cups. Sufyan Moqim bowls left-arm wrist-spin, which is rare and hard to read.

UAE Talent

UAE players Awais Ali Shah and Adithya Shetty give the Tigers local knowledge of the Zayed Cricket Stadium.
