Experience Everywhere: Can the Whiterock Warriors Surprise Canada Super 60?
Who are the Whiterock Warriors?
The franchise representing White Rock, a coastal city just south of Vancouver, making them one of two British Columbia sides in Canada Super 60.
Who is their marquee player?
England wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billings, an experienced white-ball captain and finisher.
What is the squad's biggest strength?
Seam bowling. With Kane Richardson, Jake Ball, Dwaine Pretorius and Jordan Thompson, the Warriors have more experienced pace options than most sides in the league.
The Story: Experience Over Flash
Some teams in Canada Super 60 have built around a single superstar. The Whiterock Warriors have gone another way, packing their squad with experienced short-format professionals who know how to handle pressure in the tight finishes that T10 cricket so often produces.
For readers new to the format: Canada Super 60 is T10 cricket, with each team batting for only 10 overs, or 60 balls. That makes the last couple of overs of each innings enormously important, and the Warriors have loaded up on bowlers who specialise in exactly those moments.
Billings Leads the Batting
The Warriors' marquee pick is Sam Billings, the England wicketkeeper-batter who has played franchise cricket around the world and captained sides in several leagues. He is at his best in the middle overs, where he can change the scoring rate quickly with clever placement and powerful hitting.
At the top, Ricardo Vasconcelos is another wicketkeeper-batter who can open the innings, and Australia's Nick Hobson adds attacking power. Canadian batters Aryan Sidhu and Prabhpreet Bhullar round out the batting group.
A Deep All-Round Core
This is where the squad really stands out. South Africa's Dwaine Pretorius has been in excellent form this year, including a strong Caribbean Premier League campaign with the Guyana Amazon Warriors, where he won two Player of the Match awards. England's Jordan Thompson returns to the side, having played for Whiterock last season too.
Scotland's Brandon McMullen arrives fresh from winning the European T20 Premier League with Edinburgh Castle Rockers earlier this month. And then there is Samoa's Darius Visser, who famously smashed 39 runs in a single over in 2024, a world record in T20 internationals. In a game built on big hitting, he is a genuine wildcard.
The Pace Attack
With the ball, the Warriors are well stocked. Australia's Kane Richardson is a death-bowling specialist with plenty of variations, and England's Jake Ball brings pace and skill with the new ball. Baltej Singh adds another seam option, while Canadians Sukhjinder Singh, Sheel Patel and Shivam Sharma give local depth.
