The Story: Cricket Takes Over BC Place
Canada Super 60 is back for its second season, and it has put together a cast that would not look out of place in any major league in the world. For six days, Vancouver's BC Place Stadium, better known as the home of Canadian football and soccer, becomes a cricket arena, with the roof closed and the music loud.
For readers new to the sport: T10 is the fastest format of cricket. A T20 match gives each team 20 overs, but here each side gets only 10 overs, which is 60 legal balls. That means batters swing from the very first delivery, and a whole match is over in roughly 90 minutes. It is cricket built for a big night out.
The competition runs across 23 matches in total, including a separate women's event that has grown from two teams to three this year. The men's draw features six city-based franchises, and Brampton Blitz return as defending champions after winning the inaugural title in 2025.
How the Men's Tournament Works
The six men's teams each play five round-robin games, one against every other side. The top four then advance to the knockouts, all played on the final day, Sunday,
October 4:
- Semi-Final 1: 1st place vs 4th place
- Semi-Final 2: 2nd place vs 3rd place
- Final: the two semi-final winners
Squads were built through a player draft held in July, where each team picked one marquee star, two wildcards, four international players, five Canadian players and three players from other associate nations. The mix is deliberate: world-famous names sharing a dressing room with Canada's best, helping grow the game at home.
The Teams and Their Big Names
Every name below has been confirmed in at least two published squad reports from the July draft.
Brampton Blitz (Defending Champions)
The champions have reloaded. England's Jonny Bairstow is their marquee pick, backed by fellow top-order firepower in James Vince and New Zealand's Martin Guptill. The bowling has an English flavour too, with Tymal Mills and Tom Curran leading the attack. Canadian youngster Yuvraj Samra and Dillon Heyliger add home-grown talent.
Toronto Sixers
Arguably the most star-studded squad in the league. West Indies duo Nicholas Pooran (marquee) and Kieron Pollard bring enormous six-hitting power, while Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams returns. Mississauga Masters
Led by Zimbabwe's all-round talisman Sikandar Raza, their marquee pick. The Masters also secured veteran all-rounder David Wiese and New Zealand's explosive opener Colin Munro, a proven T10 and T20 performer.
Vancouver Anchors
The home team has a strong international spine. Bangladesh left-arm quick Mustafizur Rahman is their marquee player, joined by England's Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan. Nepal captain Dipendra Singh Airee, fresh from leading his country at the Asian Games, adds all-round quality.
Whiterock Warriors
England's Sam Billings, an experienced white-ball captain and wicketkeeper, is the marquee name. He is joined by South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius, a key performer in the Caribbean Premier League this season.
