When is the India tour of England 2026?
India's white-ball tour of England runs from July 1 to July 19, 2026. It consists of five T20Is from July 1 to July 11, followed by three ODIs from July 14 to July 19. All eight matches are played across iconic venues in England and Wales.
Who is captaining India and England for the 2026 series?
Shreyas Iyer captains India in the T20Is, with Tilak Varma as vice-captain. Shubman Gill leads India in the ODIs. Harry Brook captains England in the T20Is. England's ODI squad has not yet been announced.
India arrive in England for one of the most anticipated white-ball series of the 2026 summer — and it lands at the perfect moment. The Women's T20 World Cup wraps up on July 5.
The Men's T20 World Cup is underway. And right as the cricket calendar hits peak intensity, Shreyas Iyer's new-look India squad steps onto English soil to begin a new chapter.
This is the first major series under Iyer's full-time T20I captaincy. The squad highlights India's future, featuring maiden call-ups for pace bowler Prince Yadav and 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who becomes the youngest Indian cricketer to tour England. Mohammed Siraj was withdrawn from the T20I squad to manage his workload and has been replaced by Prasidh Krishna. Nitish Kumar Reddy was also ruled out — he suffered a left quadriceps injury and was replaced by Suryansh Shedge.
On the other side, Harry Brook leads an England T20I group that includes a strong blend of established names and one exciting debutant in James Coles, who earns his first England call-up for the series.
Five T20Is. Three ODIs. Eight matches. Every iconic venue. Here is everything you need.

The Squads

🏴 England — T20I Squad
🇮🇳 India — ODI Squad
🏴 England — ODI Squad
To Be Announced
The ECB is expected to announce the ODI squad closer to July 14. Given the T20I squad includes most of England's white-ball regulars, expect significant overlap with potential recalls for batters who play longer formats.
Venues and Pitch Conditions
Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street (1st T20I — July 1)
A balanced pitch offering fair contests for both batters and bowlers. Fast bowlers get early swing while the consistent bounce later allows batters to play their shots with confidence. The scenic setting and smaller layout bring fans close to the action. Riverside tends to produce competitive first-innings totals that are chaseable — expect 160–180 as par in T20 cricket here.
Old Trafford, Manchester (2nd T20I — July 4)
Old Trafford has a larger outfield and slightly quicker pitch. Seamers benefit from early movement while batters can capitalize in powerplays. The famous Manchester weather is always a factor — rain interruptions have decided more than a few matches here. If the clouds roll in, the ball will move and India's top order will be tested early.
Trent Bridge, Nottingham (3rd T20I — July 7)
Trent Bridge is known for true bounce and consistent pitch behavior, favoring both batters and bowlers depending on conditions. Swing bowlers often find assistance early. The ground is one of England's best batting venues in dry conditions — flat wickets, small square boundaries, and a fast outfield. If it's sunny in Nottingham, expect 190+.
Bristol County Ground, Bristol (4th T20I — July 9)
A seamer-friendly venue with a lively pitch. Bristol plays differently to the bigger Test grounds — it's compact, the crowd is vocal, and the pitch tends to have something for bowlers throughout the match. Good cricket ground for a match that could have series implications heading into the decider.
The Ageas Bowl, Southampton (5th T20I — July 11)
Already sold out for general admission. The Ageas Bowl is a modern ground with a reliable pitch that tends to play true. In T20 cricket, it produces high-scoring matches when the sun is out. The evening D/N format under the lights suits stroke players — expect this to be a high-scoring series decider if things are level at 2-2.
Edgbaston, Birmingham (1st ODI — July 14)
Edgbaston is famous for its lively crowd and energetic playing conditions. The pitch can assist fast bowlers early while batters who settle in can take advantage of the bounce. India and England have played some of their most dramatic bilateral ODIs at Edgbaston. With Bumrah and Arshdeep opening for India and Jofra Archer likely leading England's attack, the powerplay could decide the series opener.
Sophia Gardens, Cardiff (2nd ODI D/N — July 16)
The only Welsh venue on the tour. Sophia Gardens has unpredictable conditions — seamers get early assistance and spinners can find turn later. The day-night format means conditions shift through the match, with the second innings often playing differently to the first. For India, Kuldeep Yadav's wrist spin under the lights in Cardiff is a genuine match-winning option.
Lord's Cricket Ground, London (3rd ODI — July 19)
Lord's offers true pitches rewarding precision and discipline. Early swing challenges batters while fielding strategies are crucial. General admission tickets are already sold out. The home of cricket hosting the series finale with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both potentially playing — it writes itself. Lord's rewards both patient batting and skillful bowling, and in a series decider, experience tells.
Five Players to Watch
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi — India T20I At 15, Sooryavanshi becomes the youngest Indian cricketer to tour England. He arrives after scoring 776 runs in 16 IPL 2026 matches for Rajasthan Royals. English conditions — swing in the powerplay, seam movement, cold evening air — are nothing like what he faced in the IPL. Watching how he adapts in real time will be one of the storylines of the series.
Jofra Archer — England T20I Back in the England setup and fully fit. Archer at The Ageas Bowl under lights in his home county — if he's carrying momentum through the T20I series, that's a dangerous weapon heading into the decider at Southampton. His ability to bowl 145 kph yorkers in the death overs is still unmatched in English cricket.
Virat Kohli — India ODI Every time Kohli plays at Lord's it becomes an event. The 3rd ODI on July 19 could be a series decider. Kohli's ODI record in England is one of his best in any away country, and the pressure of a bilateral finale at the home of cricket is exactly the stage he performs on.
Jacob Bethell — England T20I The 22-year-old all-rounder has been one of England's brightest white-ball talents since his Test debut. In T20 cricket he bats with freedom and bowls left-arm spin — on English pitches in July he's a versatile match-winner that India's analysts will have to plan for carefully.
Jasprit Bumrah — India ODI The best ODI bowler in the world right now. England's ODI middle order — whoever is picked — will face a very different challenge to their T20I opponents. Bumrah's yorker, his change of pace, and his reverse swing at Lord's in July makes the 3rd ODI the match of the entire series on paper.
Our Predictions
T20I Series: India 3–2
England's home advantage counts for something, and their T20I squad is deep and experienced. But India's bowling attack — Arshdeep swinging it early, Bishnoi through the middle, Axar and Washington as variations — is well-suited to English conditions. The extra depth in batting, with two wicket-keepers and a 15-year-old who bats like a veteran, gives India more options than England will be expecting. India edge a close series.
ODI Series: India 2–1
Bumrah, Kuldeep, Shubman Gill's captaincy, and the return of Kohli and Rohit to the batting lineup makes India the favorites in 50-over cricket. England's ODI squad is still TBA, and how quickly they can build combination after five T20Is in a row matters. The series opener at Edgbaston and the Cardiff day-night game will set the tone — if England take an early lead, Lord's becomes very interesting.
Where to Watch — TV and Live Streaming

Also on Tour: India Women at Lord's
Alongside the men's white-ball series, the Indian Women's team will play a historic one-off Rothesay Test match against England Women at Lord's from July 10 to July 13, 2026 — the first-ever women's Test match at the Home of Cricket. It's sandwiched between the 5th T20I (July 11) and the 1st ODI (July 14), making the July 10–14 window one of the most cricket-heavy stretches of the entire summer.
